a deeper understanding
We all strive to find ourselves, fighting our own fears, trying not to end up boxed in a mental cage, impossible to escape. Instead, we fall prey of a sense of inadequacy, of failure, stiffling our daily routine, swallowing us down into a seemingly eternal and devouring darkness. And yet there is a light – at times fainter, other times deflagrating – oppressed and imprisoned in a darkess we used to think complete and inescapable.
I have been walking hand in hand with a person who was trying to heal, who was trying to lighten her own personal darkness. What I found out was a surprising vitality, impressively strong and precious, although downhearted; someone who would restore her power so very slowly, only to radiate in sudden bursts. Darkness dwells inside ourselves: the decision to let light out again is only up to us.
